Driven, intelligent, and hardworking, he graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan, earning a dual degree in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering. These fields perfectly reflected his love for problem-solving, precision, and innovation.
Robert channeled his talents into a fulfilling career as a Mechanical Engineer with Stellantis, where he contributed meaningfully to cutting-edge projects. His colleagues admired not just his intellect but also his positivity, collaborative spirit, and leadership. He approached every challenge with determination and a growth mindset, quickly becoming a respected professional in the field.

Outside of the office, Robert was deeply passionate about sports—most notably, soccer. A respected National Assistant Referee, Robert was a fixture on the sidelines of matches, where his knowledge of the game, calm demeanor, and fairness earned him admiration from players, coaches, and fellow officials alike. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel; his devoted parents, David and Luanne Ruta; his siblings Rachel (Steven) Berlinski, Ryan (Samantha) Ruta, and Kristen (Jon) Galusha; his cherished niece Emilia; and his grandmother, Bernice St. Denis. Also grieving his loss is his beloved cat, Rizzo, along with extended family, countless friends, and colleagues across the country. Robert was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Emil and Dorothy Ruta, and his maternal grandfather, Kenneth St. Denis.

Celebrating a Life That Made a Difference
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 2:00–8:00 PM at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home in Flat Rock, Michigan, with a memory-sharing ceremony beginning at 6:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will take place the following day, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grosse Ile, Michigan, beginning at 12:00 PM, with a visitation starting at 11:00 AM. Attendees are invited to stay for a luncheon and eulogy immediately following the service, held onsite at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.
Please be aware that the Grosse Ile free bridge is currently closed; attendees should plan to use the toll bridge and allow extra time for travel.
